Heald Country House - Our Wedding Part 1!

Harry and I got married last year in a small wedding at our local church, with a marquee at the Cholmondeley Arms. Now as most bridezillas do, I changed my mind about the venue twice.... mainly for location and if they would allow us to have Isla and Spencer there with us. Yes, they were part of the wedding and walked down the aisle with the children.

The next challenge was to find somewhere to stay the night before the wedding that would allow dogs but also gave you that super wonderful feeling of being a bride surrounded by beautiful things in a special location. It took me forever to choose Heald Country House! Ironically it was the first place I looked at and on second inspection I was not sure why I had passed it up!

I decided to book the garden room which is attached to the main house as it had its own private garden with loungers and firepit to enjoy the stars. However, the piece de resistance was the gigantic copper roll top bath in the bathroom which you can use privately or open the screens and enjoy the views out of the window, some TV or the log burner. It has its own sitting room and a day bed for small ones if you have them staying and up on the mezzanine floor is the bedroom. The comfiest bed clad in white company bed linen and a sky light overhead to gaze out at the stars. There is no kitchen but there is a microwave, kettle, toaster and two fridges. Some of the other boutique barns that are there do have kitchen facilities though if you are going to stay for a long period. If you don’t fancy cooking though they have two of the most fantastic pubs in walking distance - the Cholmondeley Arms and the Dusty Miller.

It was fantastic from start to finish and Rachael who runs it could have not done more to help throughout the whole experience. Dogs are allowed at an extra charge and considering I don’t sleep to well on my own it was lovely to have the dogs there with me. Downstairs there was also a perfect amount of room for hairdressers, makeup artists, mother of the bride, mother in law and bridesmaids. The picture windows also helped to get some of the most beautiful pictures to go in our wedding album.

I give Heald Country House a 10 out of 10. The setting was beautiful, the amenities fantastic and it allowed me to have the most incredible two nights stay the night before and night of my wedding. We paid £445 for two nights so it isn't cheap but it was worth it.

Isla and Spencer agreed they would give it a 10 out of 10 also. Having the private garden meant the dogs could have a stretch and it was easy for letting them out for the usual doggy business. Spencer said he panicked a bit as this was the first time he had been away from home with us but the fact it was very much a homely environment meant he calmed down quite quickly.

Isla and Spencer also got to stay at the Cholmondeley Arms with my mum the night of the wedding so they said they would help me write a review of that for next week!

Until next time,

Licks and Cuddles,

Vicky and Fur Babies.
